Today's high-capacity disposables work differently. They hold far more e-liquid than a small battery could ever vaporize on one charge, so they include a charging port, and you top them up as you go.
That changes how you should think about a device. The puff rating tells you how long the e-liquid lasts. The battery rating tells you how long you'll go between charges. They are two separate numbers answering two separate questions.
The battery number is written in mAh, short for milliamp-hours. It's a measure of capacity: the higher the figure, the more energy the battery stores, and the longer it runs between charges under the same conditions. It isn't a measure of power or strength. A larger mAh figure doesn't make vapour stronger; it just keeps the device going longer.
Take the Ripper XXX 125K. It's rated for up to 125,000 puffs and holds 30mL of 20 mg/mL nicotine salt e-liquid, with a dual mesh coil and twelve flavours. Its battery is 800mAh, charged by Type-C. That tells you straight away that you'll be charging it many times over its life. The e-liquid is the long-distance part; the battery is the daily part.
The Ripper also has three modes: INSANE, RICH, and SMOOTH. Modes change how much power goes to the coil, and that affects the battery as much as the vapour. A higher-output mode drains a charge faster; a gentler mode stretches it. If you find yourself charging more often than you'd like, try a gentler mode before assuming anything is wrong.
The Mr Fog 45K Switch Pod is built around a different idea. The kit pairs a 1,400mAh Switch battery with a prefilled pod that carries 20mL of 20 mg/mL nicotine salt e-liquid and is rated for 45,000 puffs. The pod has its own small 300mAh battery, so it can be used on its own, or docked in the larger Switch battery for longer running time. A few charging habits make a real difference, whichever device you choose.
Use a decent cable and a standard wall adapter or computer port. Very cheap cables can charge slowly or unreliably. You don't need anything special, just something that isn't damaged or frayed.
Don't leave a device charging unattended for long stretches, and don't charge it overnight on a bed or couch. Charge it on a hard, flat surface, away from anything that could catch heat.
Unplug once it's full. Modern devices manage charging sensibly, but there's no benefit to leaving a full battery connected for hours.
Keep the port clean. Pocket lint and dust can collect in a charging port and stop a cable seating properly. A quick check before plugging in saves frustration.
Temperature matters more than people expect. Lithium batteries don't perform well in deep cold, and a Wadena winter can take a device well below freezing if it's left in a vehicle. A cold battery may seem nearly dead, then recover once it warms up. Don't charge a device that's still ice-cold; let it come up to room temperature first. The opposite applies in summer: a device left on a dashboard in July can overheat.
When is a battery genuinely worn? If a device that used to last a day on a charge now lasts an hour, even at room temperature and in a gentle mode, the battery may be tired. With a disposable, that usually coincides with the e-liquid running low anyway, since the two are designed to wear together over the device's lifespan.
What about strength? Both products here are 20 mg/mL nicotine salt, and nothing sold in Canada can go above that. Battery size and mode don't change the strength of the liquid; they change how much of it is vaporized per puff.
Once a device is used up, its battery still holds some charge and should never go in household garbage. Take it to a battery or electronics recycling drop-off, where lithium cells are handled safely.
