Every vape has a coil. It's the small heating element that turns e-liquid into vapour. The coil sits against a wick, usually cotton, which soaks up e-liquid from the reservoir. When you draw, the battery sends power to the coil, the coil heats up, and the liquid in the wick vaporizes.
For years, most coils were made from a single wire wound into a spiral. That works, but a wire coil heats unevenly. The parts touching the wick most closely get hottest, and some of the wick can be under-heated while other spots run too hot.
A mesh coil replaces the wire with a thin sheet of metal mesh, a fine grid, usually formed into a strip or a cylinder. The mesh has much more surface area in contact with the wick than a single wire does.
Why does that matter? Three reasons.
Even heating. The mesh spreads heat across a wide surface, so more of the wick vaporizes at the same, steady temperature. That tends to give more consistent flavour.
Faster warm-up. Thin mesh reaches working temperature quickly, so flavour arrives promptly at the start of each puff.
Longer life. Because heat is spread more evenly, the wick is less prone to hot spots that scorch cotton. A coil that avoids scorching keeps its flavour longer, which matters in a disposable meant to last tens of thousands of puffs.
What does "dual mesh" mean? Some devices use two mesh coils instead of one. Two coils can share the work, spread heat even further, and produce more vapour per puff.
Two devices in our range show how this works in practice.
The Orbito Lumo AI 120K uses a dual 1.0Ω mesh coil. The Ω symbol is ohms, a measure of electrical resistance. A 1.0Ω coil sits in the moderate range, generally associated with a steadier, mouth-to-lung-style draw. The Orbito also has a smart AI chip that optimizes e-liquid use and output, a Mega Screen showing real-time usage, and a 1,200mAh battery with USB-C charging. It holds 30mL of 20 mg/mL nicotine salt, is rated for up to 120,000 puffs, and comes in eight flavours.
The Geek Bar Pulse X uses dual vertical mesh coils. "Vertical" describes the orientation of the coils inside the device. It holds 20mL of 20 mg/mL nicotine salt, is rated for up to 25,000 puffs, and has an 820mAh battery with USB-C fast charging. It offers Standard and Pulse modes, with Pulse being the extended mode, and a 3D curved LED display. It comes in twelve flavours.
If you're comparing the Orbito and the Pulse X, think about scale. The Orbito is the long-haul device, with far more e-liquid and a much higher puff rating. The Pulse X is lighter and more compact, with twelve flavours to choose from.
What does resistance have to do with it? In simple terms, lower-resistance coils draw more power and produce more vapour; higher-resistance coils draw less power and give a gentler draw. Disposables are designed with their coil and battery matched, so you don't need to manage this yourself. It's still useful to understand when you see it on a label.
Another coil term you may see: "Ω" values on replacement coils for refillable devices. In a refillable, you choose coils yourself, and resistance matters more, since lower-resistance coils pair with lower-strength e-liquid and higher-resistance coils with higher strengths. In a disposable, the manufacturer has already matched everything, so you can simply enjoy it.
How do you know when a coil is wearing out? The first sign is usually a flatter flavour, or a faint burnt edge to the taste. In a disposable, the coil is designed to last as long as the e-liquid, so this tends to coincide with the device being near empty.
Can you make a coil last longer? A few habits help. Avoid chain-vaping, taking many puffs in rapid succession, which can dry the wick faster than it can re-soak. Use gentler modes when you don't need maximum output. And keep the device upright when stored, so the wick stays in contact with the liquid.
On strength: both devices are 20 mg/mL, which is also the upper legal limit in Canada for any vaping product.
Whisper River Estates sits outside Saskatoon's city limits, in the RM of Corman Park, so same-day delivery doesn't apply. Orders go by tracked courier from our Saskatoon location, with tracking emailed as they ship, and usually arrive within a couple of days. Government-issued photo ID is verified at checkout, and the courier checks ID again; only an adult of 19 or more whose ID matches can accept the package.
On an acreage, make sure the courier can reach your door. If there's a gate, leave it accessible on delivery day, and make sure your civic number is visible from the road.
Keep spare devices inside, somewhere that stays at room temperature and that children and pets can't reach. When a device is finished, take it to a battery or electronics recycling drop-off in Saskatoon.
Our products come through authorized Canadian distributors, and every one carries the federal excise stamp. Saskatchewan restricts flavoured vaping products beyond tobacco, mint, and menthol to specialty and online vape retailers, and acreage addresses in Corman Park fall under the same rule.
There's no minimum order, so one device is enough to place an order.
To order from Prairie Vape, you must be 19 or older, the legal age in Saskatchewan and our rule everywhere else.
Vaping products may be hazardous to your health and are addictive. Not evaluated or approved by Health Canada. Not recommended for use during pregnancy or by people with cardiovascular conditions. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
