Our e-liquids fall into two broad groups: nicotine salts and standard, or freebase, e-liquids. If you use a compact pod device at lower wattage, salts are the group you'll spend most of your time in, so it's worth knowing how to read them.
What makes a salt different? Nicotine salt pairs nicotine with an acid, which makes it smoother to inhale at higher concentrations. That's why salts are usually sold near 20 mg/mL and paired with small, tight-draw pods, while standard e-liquids are more common at lower strengths in larger, higher-output devices.
How do you spot a salt on the shelf? Look at the name first. Most salt e-liquids say "salt" or "salt nic" right in the title. If a title doesn't say, the description will.
Then check three details on the listing: the bottle size, the strength, and the varieties.
Bottle size. Salt e-liquids are commonly sold in 30ml bottles, which suit small pods that hold only a few millilitres at a time.
Strength. It's written in mg/mL. For a tight-draw pod, 20 mg/mL is the usual choice. It's also the highest strength any vaping product can legally contain in Canada.
Varieties. These are the flavours, chosen from a dropdown on the product page.
Some salt lines focus on a single flavour family, as the two below do. That makes a line's name a useful shortcut: once you know you like one family, you know where to look next time.
Two lines show how the salt shelf works.
Apple Drop Salt Nic is a 30ml nicotine salt at 20 mg/mL, with three varieties. Its short list keeps things simple if you already know you like apple flavours.
Berry Drop Salt Nic is also a 30ml nicotine salt at 20 mg/mL, with nine varieties. Its description highlights berry flavours with a refreshing ice finish, and the longer list gives you more room to explore.
How do you choose between them? Start with the flavour family you enjoy. If it's apple, the shorter list gets you there quickly. If you like berries or a cooler finish, the nine Berry Drop varieties give you more to try.
Will these work in my device? If it's a compact pod system used at lower wattage with a tight draw, yes, that's what 20 mg/mL salts are made for. If your device runs at higher wattage with a looser draw, a lower-strength standard e-liquid will be more comfortable. Not sure? Send us the model and we'll tell you.
How far does a bottle go? A 30ml bottle fills a 2mL pod about fifteen times, or a 3mL pod about ten.
If you vape daily, a bottle often lasts a couple of weeks or more, but your own number depends on your pod and your habits. Noting the date you open and finish a bottle gives you a reliable figure for planning reorders.
A few tips make the salt shelf faster to browse.
Search by line name. Typing "Drop" or another line's name brings up every bottle in that range. It's the fastest route when you already know which line you like.
Compare variety counts. A short list is quicker to choose from; a long one gives more variety over time.
Order two different bottles. It's the easiest way to compare flavours without committing to a large supply of either.
Two bottles also give you a spare, so you're never down to the last few millilitres while waiting on a delivery.
Check your cart before paying. With several varieties on each product, it's easy to mis-tap.
Keep your favourite handy. Once you find a bottle you like, your account's order history keeps the exact line and variety, so reordering takes seconds.
Don't mix salts and high-wattage devices. A 20 mg/mL salt in a device run hot and open will feel harsh.
If you don't have a refillable device yet, the devices section is right next to the e-liquids. Add one to the same order so the bottles are usable when they arrive.
Ordering to Zehner is quick. Put your bottles in the cart, type in your civic address, and verify your age with government-issued photo ID. The total, delivery included, shows before you confirm, and a single bottle is fine.
Orders leave our Saskatoon location by tracked courier, and the tracking number is emailed as each parcel ships. Zehner is close to Regina, but same-day delivery only covers Saskatoon, so allow a couple of days. On arrival, the courier checks ID, and hands the parcel only to an adult 19 or over whose name is on the order.
If you work in Regina during the day, order to where you'll be; the courier doesn't mind, as long as an adult with matching ID is there.
Store bottles upright with the cap tight, in a cool, dark cupboard well out of reach of children and pets; nicotine e-liquid is harmful if swallowed. When an old device wears out, take it to a battery or electronics recycling point in Regina.
Every bottle on our shelves is excise-stamped and supplied by an authorized Canadian distributor. Saskatchewan restricts flavoured vaping products beyond tobacco, mint, and menthol to specialty vape retailers and online stores.
To order from us, you must be 19 or older, which is Saskatchewan's legal age and our rule wherever we ship.
